    new_2 Airline Passenger Safety Tips

    1. Prepare yourself for flight!

Do not drink alcohol (Drink water to avoid dehydration during the flight).
    Stay Alert!

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    2. Dress smart!

Wear cotton clothes covering as much of your skin as possible.
Wear low healed and robust shoes.
You might need to be able to run through burning debris.

Wear clothes that are not to tight.
If you are flying in cold areas, wear warm clothing.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    3. Wear the seatbelt!

Keep your Seatbelt tightly fastened during taxi, take off, and during approach and landing.
Be sure to tighten the seatbelt when flying through turbulence.
    Wear the seatbelt whenever seated.
There is a risk to slip under the seatbelt in the event of an accident if the seatbelt is not tightly fastened.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    4. Pay Attention to the Pre-flight Safety Briefing

You have probably heard it many times, but still it is very important.

Pay attention to the location of the closest emergency exits. They may be in different locations depending on the aircraft that you fly on and seat you are in. This knowledge might save your life!

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    5. Help the Cabin Crew to identify risks

Help Cabin Crew detect smoke and smell of fire or smell of Jet fuel.

Please note that smell of burned fuel and exhaust gasses may enter the cabin from the outside while starting the engines of the aircraft and taxiing on the ground. Fumes from other planes taxiing in front of the aircraft may be sucked in through the air intakes and leave a smell of burned fuel in the cabin.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    6. Be prepared for an emergency evacuation.

Notice where the emergency exits are located and how they are opened. Count the number of seat rows to the two nearest emergency exits in front and behind you. Be prepared to leave your cabin luggage, carry your passport and some money on your person.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    7. Do not carry sharp objects like pens or pencils on your person.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    8. Do not stow any heavy objects in the Overhead Head Storage Bins

Overhead storage bins may not be able to hold very heavy objects during turbulence.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    9. Dangerous goods

Be sure not to bring any hazardous or dangerous goods.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    10. Fly on Non-stop flights

Most accidents occur during take off, climb, descent, and landing. Flying non- stop flights reduce the exposure to these most accident-prone phases of flight.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    11. Fly with a larger aircraft

Larger aircrafts (over 19 seats) are operated under tougher regulations.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    12. Choose the right airline

Choose an airline with care. Do not fly with airlines that you hesitate about. If the airlines economy is on decline, beware! If the airlines safety record is poor, the crew is worn down with high workload or the aircrafts are worn down, beware!

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    13. Inflate outside!

If the plane ends up in water and you are wearing a life vest, be sure to inflate the west OUTSIDE the aircraft!

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    14. Were to sit aboard the plane?

There is no absolute statistical proof of where the safest seats are located on board the aircraft.

The safest area inside the aircraft in case of a fire is normally close to an emergency exit. In aircrafts equipped with emergency exits in the aft, the safest place to sit is often in the back of the plane, however the type of accident is crucial for the outcome.

In a group of three seats, the strongest seat is the one in the middle.

    15. Evacuation

If an evacuation is necessary, get out as fast as possible. Every second counts! GET OUT - HURRY!

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    16. Oxygen

Do not wear lipstick - or wipe off the lipstick before using oxygen. Put your own oxygen mask on first before helping others. Remember that the time you have to put your oxygen mask on, the so-called Time of Useful Consciousness - TUC - can be as low as 20 seconds.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    17. Stow away loose items

Stow away all loose items like newspapers before take off and landing. Newspapers are slippery and can be deadly in case of an emergency.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    18. Children

Children are not allowed to sit next to an emergency exit.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    19. Breathing

Use a wet piece of cloth to breathe through in case of fire, breathe the air closest to the floor.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    20. Some general advice

Try to gather information about the airline and about the political and economical situation in the area you are flying to before the trip.

Follow the instructions given by the Cabin Crew. Stay calm. Assess the situation. Be ready to act!
